Chemical Peels and Facials
What are Chemical Peels?
Chemical peels are a very important part of skin health and maintaining healthy skin. Chemical peels are a cost efficient treatment option for most skin types. A peel can improve the texture and tone of your skin, reduce wrinkles and fine lines, clear up acne breakouts and help to remove dark spots. Chemical peels come in 3 different categories: Superficial, Medium and Deep. A Superficial peel first will penetrate the outer layers of the epidermis to a depth of 0.3-0.5 millimeters. Medium chemical peels reach a depth of 0.6-0.8 millimeters into the middle of the dermis layer. Deep chemical peels go all the way through the epidermis and will reach most of the dermis.
How do Chemical Peels work?
Professional chemical peels exfoliate dead skin and help bring new healthy skin cells to the surface. This reveals fresh untouched skin. Experts call this process cell turnover. Monthly treatments help to even out skin tone, reduce acne, and will give a glowing appearance to dull aging skin. At Belle Encore we use PCA Skin products and they are safe for all skin types. Our professional Chemical peels provide great results by themselves. However, proper pre- and post-treatment care enhances results.
How will my face look after I finish a Chemical Peel?
Not every face will peel after a chemical peel but that doesn’t mean it was not effective and helpful. Every skin type experiences different levels of peeling depending on the kind of peel and the layers applied. Some people may have large portions of the skin peeling off at once while others experience only a slight flaking. Sometimes exfoliation is not highly visible to the eye but results are still happening on a cellular level. In most cases, the deeper the peel, the more extensive peeling you will have. Talk to the professionals at Belle Encore to find out what type of peel is best for your skin.
Is there any downtime after a Chemical Peel?
No, there is not any downtime with PCA SKIN chemical peels. After your appointment you will be able to carry on with your regular daily activities. Wearing sun screen is a really good thing, and you should always wear it when outdoors. For best results, avoid activities that cause sweating for 2 days after any chemical peel treatment. Our trained professionals at Belle Encore will give you detailed care instructions after your procedure.
